Funeral For Ernest Robertson Held Here Friday
George Ernest Robertson, 86, a resident of Wyoming since 1904, died last Wednesday at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk. Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Peet Mortuary. Burial was in the family plot in Guernsey.
The Rev. Robert Boutwell of the Congregational Church of Lusk officiated. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, organist, accompanied Mrs. Dean Glandt and Mrs. Pete Germann as they sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beautiful Isle."
Casket bearers were Dale Bremmer, Walter Zerbst, Rex Shoults, Harry Sides, John Hammond and Jim Peterson.
George Ernest Robertson was born November 11, 1882 to Frank and Viola Robertson at Oskaloosa, Iowa, the youngest of 10 children.
He came to Wyoming in 1904 and homesteaded in 1907 south of Manville in the Meadowdale area. In 1912 he was married to Hattie Schooley. They were the parents of three children, Viola, Clyde and Warren.
After his son Warren joined the Marines in 1942 he came to Niobrara County and made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fancher. He has since made his home with his son Warren of Van Tassel and the Fanchers of the Kirtley community.
His wife and son Clyde died previously.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Viola Fancher of Kirtley; a son Warren of Van Tassel; two granddaughters, Mrs. Kay Holmes of Van Tassell, Mrs. Leah Ballou of Hulett; one grandson, Clyde Robertson who is serving in the U.S. Army; three great-grandchildren, Neil and Misty Holmes of Van Tassell and Cody Ballou of Hulett.

Descripcion: El Alferez Real don Diego Fernandez de Castro, vecino y
minero en el valle de las Salinas, con poder de doņa Maria Rodriguez, su
madre, viuda del Capitan Gonzalo Fernandez de Castro, otorgado en esta
Ciudad el 12 de abril de 1647 ante Juan de Rocha, Escribano de Su
Majestad, da en arrendamiento al Capitan Diego de Orduņa, vecino de la
ciudad de Mexico, y en nombre de este a Francisco Perez de Rivero, su
apoderado, un agostadero en el rio de la Pesqueria Chica, en la Rinconada,
Icamole, potrero de Nacataz y la Culebra, y todo lo perteneciente a la
hacienda de la dicha su madre, donde vive; por cinco aņos, a 275 pesos
anuales, en reales; cuyo arrendamiento se hace para satisfacer y pagar a
Orduņa 1,175 pesos que le debia el Capitan Gonzalo Fernandez, su padre.
Le agregaron el poder de doņa Maria Rodriguez a su hijo, y el de Orduņa a
Perez de Rivero, este ultimo fecho en el pueblo de Tepatitlan, jurisdiccion de
Tula, en 14 de noviembre de 1646, ante Jeronimo de Vargas, Escribano
Publico. Ante Juan de Rocha,

vendio al Colegio de San Ignacio de la Compaņia de Jesus, del pueblo de
Queretaro, las tierras que quedaron por muerte de su esposo, reservando en
potrero chico en la Pesqueria Chica, en 3, 400 pesos de oro, pagado en
cierto plazos, segun escritura otorgada en Queretaro ante Francisco de
Urquiza, Escribano Publico; y habiendo venido a este Reino el Padre Tomas
de Guevara, religioso de la Compaņia, a recibir las tierras, resulto se le habia
hecho la venta sin poder de los herederos, se la otorgan de nuevo, de treinta
sitios de ganado mayor, "en que se han de incluir once caballerias de tierra
de labor, dos sitios de ganado mayor... que lindan por la parte de arriba con
tierras que tenemos en dicha Pesqueria Chica, corriendo rio abajo, hasta
llegar a la punta del cerro del Topo, por donde el dicho rio pasa, que el dicho
capitan Gonzalo Fernandez de Castro compro de los herederos del capitan
Fernan Blas Perez; y en los sitios y caballerias que permuto con el capitan
Juan de Espindola, a lindes de las tierras del dicho capitan Fernan Blas
Perez; (y que) ha de medir el padre Guevara todos consecutivos de la banda
del rio a la otra parte de la hacienda de labor, que tengo en la dicha

Twiced married, he built The Big House, the remains of this home being on the west side of Rt 626 in Smith Mt Lake St Park. He was buried on the south lawn of The Big House, between the house and the road. The cemetery was abandoned and the gravestones were removed years ago.
